Fundraisers
Because of our Parish Debt dating from the construction of our new Church Building and our desire to expand our facilities with a new Parish Center, our parish needs fundraisers to provide the financial resources to fulfill these desires.
We have six major fundraisers. These are:
Football Boosters – For over 15 years, St. John the Beloved Disciple has benefitted from the annual sale of Football Boosters. Football Boosters are on sale beginning in July and raise between $25,000-$40,000.
Grand Slam Baseball – Similar to the Football Boosters, Grand Slam Baseball is a major fundraiser conducted for the first 17 weeks of the Major League Baseball season. Grand Slam Baseball tickets are sold beginning in February through April. We hope to rasie $25,000-$30, 000 annually.
Mouse Races – Mouse Races are an exciting fundraiser held in late September/early October. This is a fun and exciting Saturday evening for adults and raises between $7,500-$10,000.00.
Parish Picnic – Our Parish Picnic is a long-standing tradition for our parish. This is held on the weekend following Labor Day in mid-September. Our Parish Picnic annually raises $12,000-$17.000.00.
SCRIP – The SCRIP fundraiser is conducted throughout the year. This is the sale of Gift Cards for local merchants, restaurants. Participants purchase the cards at face value and receive full-value. The parish receives a discount from our suppliers on our sales. We annually make between $7,000-9,000.00 through SCRIP.
Trivia Night – St. John the Beloved Disciple holds a Trivia Night in late-February/March. This is an intellectually challenging and interesting night-out for adults. Our Trivia Night annually raises $7,500-$10,000.
Our annual cycle of these fundraisers, and some smaller fundraisers, raises between $90,000-$110,000.00. These are necessary to allow us to pay off our parish debt and save for our future Parish Center.
Parish/Community Events
In additions to fundraisers, St. John the Beloved Disciple Parish sponsors a community building events during the year.
Harvest Festival – This is held in mid-October on the parish ground. This is held in conjunction with the Men’s Club annual Meat Shoot. There are food, games and activities available for the children.
Spring Fling – The Spring Fling is held in April annually. Food, games and activities for the children are provided.
